Its rightful Welsh name - Rheadr Ewynnol was wrongly translated many years ago to Swallow Falls. The correct translation would be -Frothy Falls!! And this becomes clear if you go and have a look. Especially in wetter weather when the rivers come alive! Very beautiful!
Take a walk along the river footpath from the village to the beautiful Swallow Falls.
Great hike trail along the River Llugwy with waterfalls to a great tea shop at Ty Hyll (Ugly House) Betws y coed also has a lot of eateries and it's out in the woods
One of Betws-y-Coed’s most famous landmarks is Swallow Falls (Rhaeader Ewynnol). There’s a riverside walk from the village through woodland trails which passes several smaller waterfalls en route to Swallow Falls.
