Country park with a Fort Douglas playground for the kids and the Restoration Yard restaurant and cafe. Around the park you can enjoy the beautiful walking routes, have a peaceful cycle, walk your dog or go nature spotting.

We love the medium length walk beside the river - it's quiet and peaceful, and we've spotted deer in the woods. The cafe is usually pretty busy, but worth a visit. If you have children the Fort Douglas play area is great, although we think it's a little pricey - make sure you leave plenty of time to enjoy it.

More than shopping but amazing shopping! Do you remember The Pier? Like that but more upmarket and just more! Sells clothes as well. Nice little cafe, though very busy in holidays and at weekends. Children's Play Centre Castle is huge and brilliantly designed. We have take friend's children and they have loved it. Lovely walks around the estate Basically somethig for everyone and well worth a visit if you want some time out of the city.
