Paimpol is a coastal port town developed around the important cod fishing industry from the 15th century to the 19th century. The heart of Paimpol is centred around the harbour and the streets of the historic centre. Market day- Tuesday Take the century old steam train called the Vapeur de Trieux along the Trieux River between the Paimpol and Pontrieux(May to September only) Beauport Abbey is an evocative abbey in a lovely setting on the edge of Paimpol, and includes the ruins of an abbey church and also related monastic buildings.

Paimpol, "La Cité des Islandais". I love walking around the streets of Paimpol or along the port. It is a lovely place for shopping and to find souvenir shops (Dauphin Nautic, La Coopérative, La Maison du Caban). You may have a drink on Quai Dugay Trouin or Place du Martray. The best ice creams are at Glacier Adam's. The best crêpes are at Crêperie Le Dundee or Le Pennty. Have a look at the glassblowing studio Verglass at Place de Verdun. Second-hand shop Babouchka Place de Verdun.
