You can park down the bottom of the hill at Little Beach and walk up if you’re feeling active. Or just drive up and park at the top. There are magnificent views of the bay as well as a lovely cafe for light meals. You can also have a look through the small Lighthouse museum and visit the marine rescue base. Well worth a visit.

An absolute must if you are visiting the area. Pick a clear day and put on some hiking boots, pack a bottle of water and head on up! Park near Zenith beach. The views from the summit are AMAZING.

Pack a picnic, choose low tide and check if safe to cross the spit. Walk over to the island and the trail will take you to the end for vast views over the ocean and coastline. You will have enviably close access to the whales during their migration north or south! The operational lighthouse and derelict ruins make for interesting inspection.

You can relax at Kiddies Corner where the depth is suitable for younger children, or go to the patrolled section and catch a few waves or set up your sun shelter and relax for the day. You could even walk to the end and if the tide is right take the opportunity to cross the spit to the island and walk to the lighthouse. It’s definitely worth it especially in whale watching season.

You will certainly get enjoyment from visiting this location with its variety of beaches, walking trails in the native flora gardens and amazing views over the bay. A short stroll from here is the Nelson Bay Marina and foreshore area.
