Yarrows Cottage

North Yarrows is a traditional 18th century Caithness croft house, which has been converted to provide comfortable accommodation for 4/5 people. With an enormous fire place in the sitting you can relax with the view over the loch to the adjacent hills looking over the Yarrows archaeological landscape. The cottage has two bedrooms, the larger of which contains a double and a single bed, and a sofa bed. The smaller room contains two single beds. There is a TV, DVD and Wifi It is situated on the banks of the Loch of Yarrows, and included in the rent is a boat, moored just below the cottage as well as bank fishing on Lochs Yarrows, Brickigoe (Marl Loch), Hempriggs, Sarclet and Warehouse when in season. All are within easy reach of the cottage by road, apart from the latter, which is a hill loch, about a mile distant. All heating and electricity charges are included There is a dog-kennel and falconry mews adjacent.

The house is situated in the ancient landscape of Caithness, rich in history and stunning scenery with cliff edged coast-line and the start of the flow country being Britain’s last real wilderness. Only half an hour from John O’groats and the Castle of Mey. 5 miles from Wick where the world famous Old Pulteney is distilled. Caithness is also famous for it’s wild brown trout fishing, the Garden apartment comes with fishing on 5 lochs. There are often archeological digs in the summer which welcome volunteers, with or without previous experience.
