A lovely little village in the heart of Snowdonia. Visit the grave of Gelert the dog and walk along the fast flowing river and finish off with a tasty flapjack and coffee in Caffi Colwyn next to the National Trust Shop.
With mountain Bike trails for all abilities from a couple of hours exploring the village and Llyn Dinas to a full day in the forest and flanks of Snowdon. All trails are off road. A range of bikes including Electric and accessories. Also a lovely river walk with local history.
Pretty village with lots of eateries. Beddgelert is the setting of two of our most celebrated Welsh legends: Dinas Emrys, linked to the wizard Merlin and the home of our red Welsh dragon; and Gelert, the faithful hound of Llywelyn Fawr (King of Gwynedd and ruler of Wales.)
A lovely little village with a riverside walk to Gelert's resting place. A short walk south of the village, following the footpath along the banks of the Glaslyn leads to Beddgelert's most famous historical feature; 'Gelert's Grave'. According to legend, the stone monument in the field marks the resting place of 'Gelert', the faithful hound of the medieval Welsh Prince Llewelyn the Great. Read the legend on the monument.
