when the tide is out it is the most perfect walk for dogs all year round. can get a bit boggy at times and shoes are better removed once further down on the side. just watchvoir for washed up glass. it's also the beginning of the Exe Estuary Cycle path which goes all the way to Exeter. it's a great 2 mile walk or ride to Lympstine village, which is well signed and has some quaint pubs, then a further 2 miles to Exton to the Puffing Billy which is a lovely pub also.

16 mile route taking you around the Exe estuary (almost all of it is traffic free) perfect for walking, cycling and running. Family friendly You pass through the pretty village of Lympstone and small town of Topsham The RSPB have reserves at both Topsham and Dawlish Warren where you can view the wildlife If you choose the whole route you will pass Powderham Castle and as you reach Starcross you can look back at where you started. If the journey back seems to much, just hop on a train

Fabulous cycle trail along the River Exe. About 12k into Exeter Quay. Relatively easy cycling along a safe route which is mostly off road and littered with lovely pubs and cafes. For the more adventurous take the Starcross ferry across the river and complete a round trip with lunch at The Turf pub. Bike hire from Andy at Exmouth cycles just up the road from the flat.
