Another amazing National Trust property with free walks surrounding the site. If you do visit the castle, there's lots of history, a great cafe and during the summer, events and activities for kids.

Chirk Castle is a National Trust property from the late 13th century. It was one of several medieval Marcher fortresses sited on the Welsh-English border to keep the Welsh under English rule. Visitors to the castle can enjoy refreshments at the courtyard cafe, pick up a gift from the shop and enjoy a day exploring the castle interiors and grounds.

Magnificent marcher fortress with lovely gardens, the last Welsh castle from the reign of Edward I, and still lived in today.
