Best of Berkeley History Walking Tour
Hear about the history and culture that makes Berkeley one of the most famous cities in the world. We'll stroll through campus and the surrounding areas. This activity is 100% outdoors, and attendance is limited so the conversation can flow more easily. We'll meet at 2150 Shattuck Avenue, next to the downtown Berkeley BART station. We'll learn about Berkeley's downtown area, then cross through UC Berkeley's campus alongside tree-lined Strawberry Creek. We'll pass by the Free Speech Cafe and talk about Berkeley's protests. Finally, we'll walk the historic route from Sproul Plaza to Telegraph Avenue, which has several cafes and restaurants if you’d like to grab a beverage or a bite to eat after the tour. Other things to note: This is a history-focused tour, but the topics we cover during our walk are flexible based on everyone's interests. The Redwoods of Marin & Mt Tamalpais
We meet in Sausalito then shuttle to Mill Valley, where we start our walking exploration of Marin's magical redwood forest. Following quiet backroads and footpaths, we retreat to quiet groves of ancient redwood trees and follow spring-fed creeks to natural pools and cascading falls. In this peaceful forest, unique to the northern California and southern Oregon coastal region, the sequoia sempervirens soar hundreds of feet into the sky, providing an unequaled nature experience at base of mighty Mt. Tamalpais. Along the way, you learn about the coastal redwoods' amazing ecology and their clever adaptations for survival over many millions of years. It is a remarkable escape into nature on the slopes of beautiful Mt. Tam. Guests can also meet us in Mill Valley's Old Mill Park, where the walk starts at 10AM weekdays or 12:30PM on weekends. Weekday guests need to catch the 7:40AM ferry from San Francisco arriving at 8:10AM. Weekend ferry guests need to catch the 10:15AM Golden Gate ferry from the terminal behind SF's Ferry Building (foot of Market St.) The ferry arrives in Sausalito at 11:20AM. I will meet Sausalito guests outside the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce, 22 El Portal, at 9:30 weekdays and noon on weekends. If you need another start time, please contact me via Airbnb direct message. This refreshing walk is also ideal for groups and corporate team building outings!

Learn what it takes to be a Pizzaiolo
We're back! It was a long two years. All that's needed now are your hands, your passion, and a little guidance from us and you'll be making and eating exceptional pizza. First I’ll show you how to make dough … and eat a little pizza. I'll teach you about the importance of time and temperature, about different yeasts and how to make poolish. Oh... it's recess... gotta eat some pizza. Next we'll practice what is probably the hardest yet funnest part of all.... opening up a Neapolitan pizza ball. You'll learn to massage the dough, so the air moves outward toward the edge - otherwise known as the cornicione. Now, take a moment , have some pizza. You deserve it. Then you'll learn to dress the pizza and then then launch it into the wood-fired oven. There's no turning back now. In 90 seconds your pizza will be finished. We'll practice this over and over using the same techniques I learned from a world champion. This will be the best class ever because you get to eat your homework!
Pottery in the Mission
We will start with some of the interesting history of the studio space. Then I will get you situated on the wheel and show you how to properly secure your lump of clay. After the clay is secured we start the wheel spinning nice and fast. I will show you how to center the clay which is a very important (and frustrating) stage of making pottery on the wheel. After we successfully center the clay, you will explore how the clay moves and reacts to your touch. We will work to form a simple shape such as a bowl or cup. To finish off we will do some clean up of the form and remove the piece from the wheel in order to start experimenting with the next piece. You can expect to get to practice with around 6 lumps of clay (more if you are ambitious) and most people will create 2-3 pieces by the end of the session. Pieces will be professionally finished, fired, and glazed after the experience. This process takes at least 3 weeks. After the pieces are finished you can pickup in the studio or they can be shipped. Shipping costs are paid by the guest. Other things to note Come wearing clothes that you don't mind getting messy. We will provide aprons. If you have long hair plan to have a hair tie or a way to secure your hair back. Trim long nails if you are able.
Learn how to cook & throw the Ultimate Dumpling Dinner Party
Dumplings are a San Francisco staple, you'll learn how to make them from scratch in this hands-on cooking class & 3-course dinner party! Discover the secrets of creating fresh dumpling wrappers, building flavorful sauces, and mastering the art of folding beautiful dumpling pleats. Now booking through Labor Day & September! It's perfect for a unique date night, as a family cooking activity, as a team building offsite, or just on your own -- a class suitable for all levels, from new to seasoned chefs. Start with a blind tasting of my favorite soy sauces to deeply understand and appreciate umami. Then, learn traditional dumpling making skills: dough kneading, skin rolling, and pleating. We'll use a family recipe for a mouthwatering pork stuffing. (For non-pork eaters, a delicious tofu-based stuffing is offered) Once you've created your batch of dumplings, you'll create your very own secret dipping sauce. We'll also enjoy a pork belly braise: a classic Shanghaineese dish that highlights the umami of soy sauce using local, organic pork, and finish with a red bean dessert -- you'll be in a food coma at the end of the experience! You'll also take home a recipe guide. Private bookings available for team builds and custom classes! Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or expanding your cooking skills, the Dumpling Dinner Party is a must-try experience.
