Located at the iconic and world-renowned Zip World Penrhyn Quarry site, Quarry Karts is the UK’s only mountain cart experience, seeing gravity fuelled three-wheelers descend an obstacle-filled 3 kilometre slate track. It all begins with transportation up to the top in our red, military trucks, with the start taking place 1,500 ft above sea level, where you’re treated to incredible views ahead of an intimidating descent that lasts around 3-5 minutes. The unique vehicles have a low centre of gravity and a wide wheelbase, making them extra-stable, with hydraulic, independent disc brakes that allow you to slide and drift round corners. Pushing your driving ability to the limit are a series of obstacles including tunnels, chicanes and banked corners, while you get two runs included in your booking – so you can learn the ropes on your first attempt.

Take flight from the top of the Penrhyn Quarry adventure terminal in this dual zip line adventure ideal for kids or anyone not quite up to the white-knuckle adrenaline rush of Velocity 2. After climbing the steps to the Adventure Terminal terrace, you’ll be able to enjoy stunning views of the Penrhyn Quarry site and the bright blue lake below. Having been clipped in by a Zip World instructor, the first of two zip lines will send you flying 110 metres through the air, from the Adventure Terminal to the tower that forms the launch point for your second zip line. Keep an eye out for the brave adventurers taking part in Velocity 2 as you speed along! Once you’ve landed safely on the tower, you’ll climb another small flight of stairs before zipping a further 90 metres back down to the ground. Over the 200 metres of zip line there’s an elevation drop of ten metres that lets you pick up plenty of speed, while with two parallel lines side-by-side, it’s a perfect adventure for siblings, couples or best friends to take on together! Featuring 21 zip lines and 17 additional elements that include rope bridges, netting, balance boards – even a treetop surfboard, this adventure takes up to 3 hours and is a great team building activity or adventure to enjoy on as a group. Also at Zip World Fforest is the Tree Hoppers course, which is Zip Safari 2’s little sibling, ideal for kids from 5, allowing you to choose the perfect level of challenge. Europe’s highest giant swing, Skyride 2 is set in a stunning position overlooking the Conwy valley, located just outside Betws-y-Coed and less than 30 minutes from the North Wales coastline of Llandudno and Conwy. A five-seater swing set 80 feet high up in the air, your group, whether friends, family or complete strangers, will be winched back to a near-vertical position. From there, one brave individual gets the responsibility of pulling the release string and sending you all hurtling towards the ground, before rising up again out towards the valley beyond. Completely gravity driven, you’ll enjoy an incredible sense of speed and weightlessness throughout.

Featuring 12 zip lines, there’s plenty of thrills that take place 7 metres above the ground, as well as 22 other elements such as rope bridges, platforms and balance beams. You can expect a session on Tree Hoppers to take around an hour, with two courses available depending on how brave (or otherwise!) your little one feels. One is harder than the other, making it ideal for a range of ages from 5 and up. For older kids, we also have Zip Safari 2, which is this adventure’s big sibling, so you can pick just the right activity for your family.

The world’s first tandem drop experience, Plummet 2 is an incredible 100 foot tower with a trapdoor drop that’s the ultimate test of your white-knuckle credentials. After climbing a set of steps up the tower, you’ll stand on a trapdoor either alone or with a friend and, after a countdown (or not, if you want a true heart in mouth experience!), the doors will release and you’ll experience the closest thing to freefall. Plummet 2 is at the top of the North Wales adventure bucket list and is the perfect adventure for couples with its dual-drop option (weight limits apply). It’s also a good choice for team building, corporate days or stag and hen parties – will everyone in your group feel brave enough to drop? Not just an adventure for thrill-seekers, however, you can control the brakes, meaning you can go as fast (or as slow) as you dare!
