Malad City is a small town about 10 minutes from the tipi site. There you will find a hospital, Thomas Market grocery store, some small shops, and few restaurants.
Truthfully, Malad isn't known for its culinary offerings, but there are some interesting places to try.
-Spero's is a fun BBQ place with outdoor seating. Spero has a fascinating background if you get to talk to him.
-Pizza Stop. You can eat in or take out.
-The Pines is probably the most often recommended. It has a large menu with some surprising items, like the "Hound Dog" hamburger. It can sometimes take a while to get your food so don't eat here if you are in a hurry.
- The Dude Ranch is on main street and kind of a classic American west restaurant.
- Bamawama's sells specialty sodas, coffee, and treats.
- The Malad Drive-In has good shakes, but we wouldn't recommend the food items.
- The Hubcap lounge is lots of locals' favorite. You'll find it hidden in the basement of the Malad Hotel.
- La Fiesta has decent tex-mex.
- There is also a Burger King, Subway, and Maverick by the main Malad freeway exit.

Lava hot springs are the largest and most developed hot springs near us. There is a little town with restaurants and many places to soak. In the summer, kids really enjoy renting tubes and floating the warm river.

Downata is the closest hot spring to our site. It has lots of slides and fun for kids, but also a section for relaxing adults. Inside there are changing rooms and a restaurant.
