NEIGHBORHOODS

Stockbridge is a lovely neighbourhood about a 20 minute walk from the apartment. It’s filled with independent shops and cafes to enjoy. The water of Leith runs through the centre of the area which will take you to the Modern Art galleries and Dean Village, or Leith. Don’t miss St Stephen Street with some of the best small shops in the city.

The number 26 bus will take you to this lovely beach town in about 20 minutes. Even on a cold day you’ll see locals taking a dip! If you’re not that brave pick up a coffee from the green van by the local swimming baths and take a walk along the prom!

A walk around Holyrood is a great way to get some space and fresh air if the city gets too busy. There is a gentle tarmac path the circles Arthur’s Seat and takes about 30 minutes. If you want more of a challenge there are a few paths to the summit - check online.

Neighbourhoods

The Old Town is the heart of historic Edinburgh. It spans to the north and south of the famous Royal Mile which connects the Castle to Holyrood Palace. Make sure to explore some of the closes that run either side, and expect to get a little bit little bit lost! I highly recommend visiting the rooftop terrace at the Museum of Scotland to get your bearings. At night the Cowgate comes alive as a party street with lots of clubs and bars. Check out ‘the List’ website for what’s on.

If you want an escape from the narrow busy pavements of Old Town the New Town offers plenty of quiet Georgian Streets to enjoy. Predominantly a residential area you’ll find few shops and restaurants, but if you are after a drink head to Kay’s Bar for a cosy pint, or if the weather is being kind the Cumberland Bar has a fab beer garden under a lovely willow tree.
