Coconut Grove Natural History with author, photographer

Join me, a wildlife photographer, author, and conservationist, for a nature-lover’s glimpse beneath Miami’s touristic veneer. I’ll guide you on a natural history tour of Coconut Grove, including visits to natural areas and secret gardens, all with a sprinkling of history and culture. • We’ll meet at the Barnacle Historic State Park to explore South Florida’s natural coastline, winding our way through a patch of native tropical forest for views across Biscayne Bay. We’ll look for birds, lizards, and other wildlife, and you’ll see the oldest house in the county still standing in its original location, the home of Ralph Middleton Munroe, one of Coconut Grove’s influential pioneers. • Next, we’ll stroll through an area of grand old buildings known in the early 1900s as Millionaire's Row. I'll point out natural and historic features, including original structures and a solution-hole turned sunken garden. We’ll likely encounter roaming peacocks and iguanas as we wind our way through residential streets. • Finally, we’ll reach my own secret garden where my studio gallery is housed in a century-old cottage. We'll explore my native plantings and the wildlife they support. You're guaranteed reptile and bird encounters both in the garden and in my aviary. We’ll begin on the famous Calle 8, where you can grab a cafecito or pastry from Party Cake Bakery before setting out. • Walk through Little Havana’s streets and see its murals up close. I’ll share the stories behind these works, their artists, and the neighborhood’s cultural influence on public art. • Visit some of my own murals and get insight into the creative process. I’ll explain the techniques, inspirations, and collaborations that shape my work. • Go upstairs to my studio for an inside look at my workspace. This experience is private and public. It will cover up to 2 locations and you can choose. Wynwood, Design District, South Beach Ocean Drive, or Miami Beach. You can also decide to go somewhere else. If it's not in the area, there will be a fee. If this experience is booked on a weekday, you will choose one town , and it will be two locations within that town. For example, if South Beach, we will shoot at Ocean Drive and South Pointe Pier. If Wynwood, we will do Wynwood and Design District. This will be a 2 hour session. Mostly depending on traffic. Each destination will session up to 45 minutes depending on how many people in group. You receive ALL YOUR PICTURES from the shoot and 7 EDITS per person. This experience is up to 3 people if from different parties. There may be other guest as well because it's semi private. Groups are welcomed! *****Please inquire for more times and availability. Cigar Factory Tour

Upon entering Casa Habano, each guest will be greeted with a traditional Cuban coffee or "Cafe Cubano" to get a full sensory experience From there we begin a video on the seeding, germination, planting, curing, fermenting and sorting of tobacco leaves before shipped to factories. We continue by sharing the history of Commercial cigar rolling in Florida which began with small-scale operations by Cuban immigrants in the 1830s, and blossomed in to the "cigar Capital of the World", with Pioneers like Vicente martinez Ybor and Eduardo Manrara. Next we visit our pettit GALERA to experience each manufacturing stage: PRIMARY PROCESS - This is where you get to see firsthand the different types of tobacco and the aging process. Here you will see and learn how various tobaccos are sorted. DEVEINING - The removal of the center vein is a critical process of preparing the tobacco, and we will show you how it is done. TWISTING & ROLLING - Constructing a cigar is a 3 step process. See our Master Torcedores, twist, bind, press and roll our premium cigars. PACKING - Once cigars have been rolled they undergo further aging, before they're label and packaged for distribution. For safety, we recommend to wear closed shoes. During the tour, guests are invited to enjoy (1) complimentary cigar. Other things to note To enhance the experience, you are free to take pictures, videos and ask questions.

After our initial meeting, we'll take a leisurely walk through Wynwood, where you'll encounter various works of art and amazing spots for photo shoots. On the journey to Wynwood, we can always make stops to take pictures with your favorite pieces of artwork. You will taste the perfect Cuban coffee, experience a decolonized way of smoking a cigar like a native Taino / cuban, and learn the Cuban cigar ritual—from the old way of lighting it to the proper way to smoke it and make a wish at the Sacred CEIBA Tree. These are rituals that have been passed down and traveled overseas through generations from Cuba to here in Miami.
