Private Bedroom with shared bath in San Francisco single family Victorian home. Centrally located in the Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco, steps from the Golden Gate Park Panhandle, GG Park, & world famous Haight Street. Great walkability and easy public tranportation to major tourist areas of San Francisco.

We offer a room in a single family home built in 1895. You chance to share life in an urban environment that offers lots of things to do in a relatively quiet setting.

Your room offers a Queen-size bed with new mattress. The room has been recently renovated, while still keeping its Victorian era charm. A quiet space overlooking our private deck. Despite renovations and updated systems, our home is 125 years old, and has been through 2 major earthquakes (1906 & 1989). The walls & corners may not be perfectly squared, and some doors stick when opening them, we call it Victorian charm.

You may note that our home is not air conditioned. Unlike summer weather almost everywhere else, San Francisco summers are rarely very warm during the day, and it can be downright chilly in the evening. There are very few days during the year that we can sit out or dine on our deck in the evening. As Mark Twain has been famously been quoted as saying: ‘the coldest winter I’ve ever had is a summer in San Francisco’. When we do sometimes have the warmest weather is the month of September, and even then there are very few nights we need to resort to fans to stir the air. So remember to bring your sweatshirts and layered clothing during the summer months, or you will keep the souvenir sweatshirt vendors very happy as you try to keep warm in July and August.

We normally allow instant confirmation for guests bookings within 90 days from the current date. For stays of 28 days or longer, please contact us as we may allow bookings up to 6 months in advance. These bookings cannot be made with instant booking over 90 days in advance.

The Haight Ashbury was developed in the 1880s and 1890s, and many of the original buildings remain today from 'working class' Victorians such as our home to grand mansions that have been lovingly restored and maintained.

Free professionally led walking tours of the the historic Haight Ashbury are offered several Sundays each month.

This is a great walking area with shopping on Haight Street less than two blocks away. Golden Gate Park with its green expanses and Sunday carfree days, is minutes away, Both the de Young Museum, and the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park are an easy 20 minute walk away.

There are bike rental shops on Haight Street and along the borders of the GG Park. In addition the city sponsors a bike share program where one can rent a bike in one location, and drop it off in another location.

John is American born (Dallas), but raised in the Washington DC area. Fell in love with California while attending graduate school at UCLA. After 3 years abroad - 1 year advanced studies in Bordeaux France and 2 years teaching at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg South Africa, he returned to California and has lived in San Francisco since 1974. He founded The Wine House, a wine import, wholesale, and retail business in San Francisco in 1977, which allowed him to combine his love of travel & interest in other cultures into a career centered on bringing people together through the pleasures of wine & food around the table.

Renato has been in the travel and hospitality industry for many years. He arrived from Rio de Janeiro, and made his home in San Francisco since 1993. He continues to enjoy meeting and introducing guests to the many wonderful facets of our city.

Renato & I offer this bedroom when we are in residence & we do enjoy socializing and interacting with our guests. After check-in, you will be provided keys to be able to come and go as you wish. As this is our home, only registered guests, who have booked through Airbnb have access to the living quarters and bedrooms on the 2nd floor. While you are very much in the city, this is a relatively quiet neighborhood, and we request that there be no loud music, TV, etc after 10 pm.

Above all, we want you to enjoy your visit. We'll make every effort to assist in making that happen.
