Our airy loft space is set in the oldest part of Alhama - the Barrio Arabe and is perfectly positioned for a base for walking or cycling in the national parks, local sightseeing or simply enjoying the relaxed pace of life, drinks and tapas. We love being close to a little supermarket and being less than a 10 minute stroll to a good selection of bars. The views from the terrace are of a landscape which changes depth and colour continually as the sun moves across the sky. The best of both worlds.

Our place is nestled in the oldest part of Alhama yet offers a modern space and facilities. It is light and airy inside - unusual for the old houses in this area. The inside area is 41m sq. There is a wood burning stove to cozy up to in winter nights and there is always the ever changing view from the terrace. Watching the sun rise with a coffee in the morning to witnessing the softening of the colours in the evening with a glass of something cold.

Guests are often surprised by how much Alhama has to offer. It as a good selection of cafes, bars, restaurants, supermarkets and things to do in the area. There are organised tours of the town where you can learn about it's rich culture and history. Alhama is also a good base for hiking, cycling and of course, a visit to the famous hot springs.

ABOUT US

David and I met by chance five years ago in Singapore while the ship he was cooking on was in dry dock for repairs.

David was only meant to be in Singapore for a few days though nearly a month later he was still there and our relationship grew from that first chance meeting.

Over the next few years we kept meeting up in far flung destinations such as Vietnam, The Maldives, Bali, France, UK and Australia. Our relationship was so idyllic - meeting with wondrous people, experiencing and pursuing our passions of food, yoga, cultural diversities and community. We felt our lives and relationship needed to develop into something more permanent because even though it was idyllic, it couldn’t sustain us for years to come. So in 2017 we both quit our jobs. David left the sea and his family in Australia and I left my life as a teacher in Singapore and we set off to find our new home with the wishlist of somewhere warm, not too far from the UK and a place where we could develop our own passions and become a part of a loving community.

After signing up to Workaway, (an online volunteering community) we ventured from the UK to southern France, Italy and northern Spain. Although we had an incredible time in the places we visited, it wasn’t until we arrived in Alhama that we knew we had found somewhere special and wondrous that ignited both our hearts. After two years of searching for the perfect home, we purchased Cervantes from the lovely Alizon and John. We are happily settling into the downstairs apartment and making plans for our yard and generally enjoying the little things you miss when you move around a lot - like a letter box!
