Your hosts are Sam & Gretchen Gates. We began our hosting experience in August 2018 . Since becoming hosts, we have been pleasantly surprised and blessed with the quality of our guests, both well seasoned travelers and first time users of the Airbnb platform. We provide our guests with a clean home away from home, something we would expect as guests. Amazingly, all our guests have returned the favor by treating our property with care and respect. All have earned a 5 star guest rating! We do not provide a hotel, a bed & breakfast or a luxury resort experience. We do provide a very private, spacious and well appointed accommodation for you to relax and recover from whatever brings you to the area. We recognize you do not come to see us, so although we enjoy meeting our guests, we do not require it and recognize schedules don't always coincide. We are always a resource to the area and are happy to assist upon request.
Sam grew up local to the Hanover area. Rebelling against the family tradition of attending Penn State, opting instead for the warmth of the south, graduating from Florida State University in 1982 with a degree in Computer Science. Upon graduation, Sam was commissioned into the Air Force and spent 6 years as a Navigator before resigning his commission to pursue his law degree. Sam practiced law with his father and now works with his daughter in a general practice firm. Gretchen is a Marine Corps Brat and has lived all over the South. Gretchen is a retired physical education teacher and middle school principal. She attended West Chester State University, Florida State University, Louisiana State University at Shreveport, Penn State at Harrisburg, Western Maryland College and Immaculata University, where she received her Doctorate in Education. Gretchen now works for Gettysburg College in the Education Department.
Sam enjoys cycling, tennis, Pickleball, gardening, and craft beers.
Gretchen loves all things involving horses. She's passionate about children and her family. She enjoys red wine and especially a well made Cosmo.
