This detached one-story house was built 93 years ago and was once a typical type of housing in this area. We call this style “Edo nagaya”, a row house in past periods. In Tokyo, now it is rare to see this type of buildings which still survive after having witnessed wartime. You may here discover the history of common people during several eras such as Edo, Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods. Inside the house, we have done renovation works with a particular manner, in order to conserve its original

Ambienti
In addition to those characteristics such as a historical value of the Edo-nagaya house, the area is also known as “the town of alleyways”. You will find a particular scenery with labyrinthine alleyways, residences, shops and a zone which has a high concentration of wooden buildings including lots of factories. In this town of alleyways, an intimate community is still deeply rooted. Please exchange greetings actively with local people. I think that the greeting is the key to discover this town’s charm.
In recent years, younger people are reusing the “Edo nagaya” housings, transforming those into unique cafes and shops, and also they are forming communities of artists. Moreover, the town has an aspect as “the town of producers”. Workers of small factories in our area have a reputation as some of the most skillful artisans in the world, and they play a crucial role in Japanese industries. I hope this environment can help you realize your projects.
Our one story “nagaya” house consists of two rooms, a kitchen space, a bathroom and the toilet separated from the bathroom. 4 sets of futon, Japanese bedclothes, can be prepared.

Gjëra të tjera që vlejnë të përmenden
According to Japanese law, we need to ask your ID before check in or when you check in.
Since this is an old wooden house, you cannot expect a certain comfort that urban residences can provide. Sorry to say this, but apparently, it is not for a person who seeks an accommodation like modernized hotels.

Sumida-ku, Tōkyō-to, Japoni

The house is situated in Kyojima district of Sumida ward, and this area is often called “a town saved from burning”. While other areas in Tokyo were devastated by the great fire after the large scale air raid in 1945, this town miraculously survived. So after the war, this Kyojima district which was still functioning, unlike other parts of Tokyo, became a crucial part of the capital city as a pillar in reconstruction works. Then this area received a large number of people. It is said that this was one of the most densely populated areas in Asia at that period, and those people created a vibrant local culture. Kyojima district with its shopping center “Kira-kira Tachibana Ginza” has continued to change as time goes by. Nowadays we do not see the same energy, like once brought by the congestion of people, but still we are nourishing our local culture which is unique and creative.
