Renovated 1890s farmhouse on historic 13 acre property next to Giants Ridge Golf & Ski resort.

The Green Gate Farmhouse is one of four vacation homes on our private 13 acre homestead (see our other listing, The Green Gate Barn and the Log Cabin). This century-old farm house has undergone extensive renovations and is now ready for guests!
Our renovations to The Green Gate Farmhouse retain much of the character of the original structure (think clawfoot bathtubs, wide plank barnwood walls), but also include modern conveniences in a cozy, energy-efficient shell. The open floor plan provides a roomy feel, and there is ample space for dining, relaxing and sleeping. Design elements such as custom lighting fixtures, slab wood tables, antique decor, and our large front and back porches make this house quite unique- many of our guests have to snap a photo or two to take home!
Our property is a combination of pasture and woods, with a beautiful little river bordering it on one side. We are in the process of returning the land to a working farm, so guests may see others folks around the property working on gardening and building projects. Generally, however, it is quite peaceful and private- you likely won't want to leave our little oasis!
The property is conveniently located only a mile from the cute Bavarian-themed town of Biwabik (pop. 950), and 3 miles from the Giants Ridge Golf and Ski Resort area. The Mesabi Bike Trail passes nearby for easy access, and there are also beaches within walking distance in the summer. In the colder months, snowshoeing and nordic skiing can be done right from the door, or at the Giants Ridge Resort area, a short drive away.

I am a degreed professional with a variety of passions and interests. In addition to an engineering career, I have worked in the natural foods industry (various roles over several years at a food co-op), nutritional counseling, and residential construction and interior design. For the past several years, I have been dedicated to the design/build of Green Gate Guest Houses- 10 unique lodging options within the Giants Ridge Recreation Area.

I have a passion for all areas of construction, design, technology, sustainable living, renewable energy, etc., and enjoy putting ideas into action through the myriad of projects I always have going!

I enjoy nature, outdoors, exercise (running, hiking, cycling, skiing, etc), as well as the culture and arts of the city. I've traveled domestically and internationally, and value the insight gained from experiencing new cultures. I often bring back design ideas that are eventually incorporated into various projects around the property. Looking forward to some time in Scandinavia next.

Having operated my vacation rental properties for about a decade now, I have been fortunate to host such a variety of wonderful guests from all over the planet, and have enjoyed being part of the Airbnb community in my hosting and travels.
