Located in one of Maidstone in Kent's oldest roads, neighbouring buildings used to provide accommodation to pilgrims on their travels to Canterbury in medieval times. Perfect for anyone looking to get away from it all and for those looking for something different, the quirky interior of the Lodge is an eclectic mix of vintage and modern. It offers a romantic hideaway, with exclusive use of the brand new hot tub jacuzzi directly outside your door, and a low height mezzanine sleeping area on a futon mattress, in the double height roof where you can star watch in bed, listening to the local owls. The fully equipped, open plan kitchen/lounge area is cosy in the winter with underfloor heating, and equally delightful in the summer when the bi-fold doors can be opened up to enjoy BBQ's on the deck. With Wifi access, Bose mini sound system, Nespresso coffee pod machine and a flat screen TV, you can also keep in touch with the outside world if you really want to. The Lodge is perfectly located for those who want a car free holiday in the corner of our 1.5 acre garden, about 60m from the main house. Please note that while the Lodge is completely private the hot tub area is not, as you are in the garden shared with our house. A short walk will take you to the ancient village green of Bearsted with its Butcher / Deli / Bakery and a choice of excellent restaurants. For those wishing to take the train, the village station provides services to the coast or to London, to give you transport choices. 5 minutes by car will get you to the award winning Leeds castle, while a 40-60 minutes drive will take you to the many beautiful historic towns of Kent including Tenterden, Canterbury and Tunbridge Wells, as well as the beautiful Kent coast line and the EuroTunnel. Perfectly located for weddings and celebrations at the award winning Orangery in Maidstone, why not make a holiday out of your stay? Subject to availability The Lodge can be booked in conjunction with it's sister property 'Knocklofty', a one minutes walk away and can accommodate up to 4 people. Parking for two cars comes with the Lodge, with a walk across the grass. Bearsted train station is a 10 minute stroll from the Lodge with access to London or the coast in 1 hour. The EuroTunnel is a 30 minute drive away making the Lodge a perfect stopping off point in and out of Europe. We like to greet our guests when they arrive. We are available if there are any questions, but leave them to enjoy the peace and quiet. Embrace country life in the medieval village of Bearsted in Kent—the Garden of England. Walk to the village green for great gastro pubs, a butcher, and a deli. For a proper hike, there's beautiful countryside with miles of scenic walks. Bearsted train station provides easy access to London and the seaside. Free WiFi and a smart TV, as well as a Bose sound system, allows you to keep in touch with the outside world. Sleeping is on a futon mattress on the Mezzanine. The headroom is restricted and there are no blinds on the velux windows.

A Cosy Hideaway in Kent

Plenty of room to spread out in this self contained converted stable block (34' x 12'). Owners just a short stroll away and contactable throughout your stay. There are no sofa beds as we wanted a luxurious large space for two people although would be suitable to bring a baby and we are able to supply a travel cot. Breakfast is available at Thurnham Keep at an extra charge. All guests staying a week or longer will receive a complimentary cream tea. Guests have full access to a hard tennis court in the grounds during their stay. We greet guests on arrival and they are welcome to contact us by ‘phone, e-mail and text. Cream teas are available at the main house and breakfast at an extra charge if you so wish The stables sit within the Thurnham Keep Estate in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Dramatic undulating hills of the North Downs dominate the landscape in this tranquil hamlet with a pub and church, yet it's only a couple miles to motorways. We are a mile from Bearsted Station which has a direct service to London Victoria (1 hr). If you need collecting from Bearsted Station, please do let us know. We have a labradoodle, labrador and two cats living on the property, so you may see them in the grounds but they are very friendly. We are fortunate to have pheasants and French partridge wandering around as well.

Whether you want a relaxing get away or want to explore many of the wonderful walks and bike trails the north downs have to offer you can be sure to find a warm and cosy place to stay at the end of the day. We have a very friendly dog who will be on hand to greet you along with 2 young children
