During this workshop, participants will learn the basics of creating a stained
glass mosaic! Each person will select a beach rock from an assortment collected from Carlsbad beaches. Participants will then choose one of several designs for their mosiac. The finished piece can be placed in the garden as a colorful accent, used as a doorstop or given as a gift. A wonderful keepsake to take home to remind you of your Carlsbad trip!
I will review mosaic terminology, discuss how to use the tools, transfer your design onto the substrate (in this case the rock), cut the stained glass, select the appropriate adhesives and grout.
Enjoy Agua fresca —fresh fruit-infused Carlsbad Alkaline Artesian Mineral Water, said to provide multiple health benefits.
All supplies will be provided.

You will enjoy this casual and fun experience even if you have no mosaic or other art experience. I can accommodate from 1-5 people.

After taking an introductory course at the local community college, Mosaic art quickly became an obsession. I immersed myself in it--I've studied from a variety of well-respected mosaic artists and attended workshops and retreats wherever they can be found. I tend to create mosaics inspired by the beauty and purity of nature. Although most of my art is just for me, I also accept commissions to do custom projects .
Creating mosaic art has added a new dimension of joy and fulfillment to my life, and I sincerely love sharing it with others.
I currently teach small group beginner mosaic workshops in my home studio.

The workshop will take place in a private studio located at my residence under the shade of a 70-year-old avocado tree.
