You will start by picking out your wood blanks for your bowl as well as our hybrid stem blanks that will be assembled during our workshop, cut, carved, engraved if you like, polished and finished into something you can really be proud of. Of Course we have to try them out so feel free to bring tobacco or otherwise since this is Colorado...and give them a try! Feel free to bring a friend to observe for FREE! We will be in my shop (Garage) the entirety of the work time and most of the class primarily using a rotary tool with an extension attachment (makes it like using a pen to carve/sand rather than holding the entire tool). I will have music playing and examples for ideas, like I mentioned feel free to BYOB while we work as well. Just use common sense, we will be working with power tools that have sharp bits Other things to note Any and all experience levels are welcome, I especially encourage folks who have never tried any wood working. Private pottery wheel lesson
After arriving, guests will enjoy a short time of introductions. After being introduced to the space and to each other, I will provide a quick demonstration on the pottery wheel with a small amount of clay. Afterwards, each guest will be allowed time to create a piece on the wheel from beginning to end with personal instruction and assistance from me. Guests are welcome to make anything they would like to on the wheel! Cup, bowl, vase, dish, etc. The firing of pottery is a long process that is completely separate from the time we spend on the wheel. Each piece requires two 8-10 hour monitored sessions in a kiln, and I hand glaze each piece. I offer kiln services out of my personal studio if you have interest in having your piece fired for a small fee that is not due the day of the experience, but when your piece is finished. Message me for details! *The time noted on the experience, 2 hours, is generally descriptive of a 2 person experience which encompasses the majority of my bookings. In general, the experience is 1 hour per person. If there are 3 or 4 people in the booking, likely the experience will extend the 2 hour session time, and if there is 1 person in the booking it will be closer to an hour. Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting some clay on. Clay will wash out, but you may not want to go out right after.

Goat Hike Along the Ol' Miners' Trail
“Valerie is an awesome host, she made the whole experience very fun and delightful. She is great at bringing the group of strangers together in such a short time. And the goats are just fantastic.” We begin our goat hike at the STAGE STOP, 20 minutes West of Boulder. After introducing ourselves, some Western lore, and the "girls" (goats), we'll start our hike through the historic living museum beginning with the Cloud City mining district. I’ll tell stores from the miners’ journals as I point out relics from their lives and mines. You will be selfing with the goats, taking panoramic pics of the mountain scenery and enjoying the mountain climb. You'll be seeing old mine portals, the school house and root cellar, stone walls, mine tunnels and stone cabin foundations. The land reveals many secrets of the past and I'll be sharing them with you. Along the way there is time for water and breathing. The famous Downhill Goat Race will conclude our adventure. Each hiker will steers her goat down the hillside to the winner’s circle. Back to the STAGE STOP, where we began, I'll offer lunch ideas and local adventures you might enjoy. Then we bid adieu. "The hike with Valerie and her goats was the highlight of our trip. We mistakenly went to Boulder and Denver, when her location and stories offer everything to experience the real beauty and history of Colorado."

Taste Denver Like a Local Foodie Tour
Denver's most unique foodie experience! Each food tour is unique as we rotate through some of our favorite locally owned eateries, so please know up front that each tour is planned individually and is not a daily rotation of the same tour every time. In the 12 years of food-touring across Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins, Megan has made relationships with dozens and dozens of chefs and restauranteurs. So, that enables our tours to be different as we feature many different places total but only 5 or so per tour. We'll meet, greet, and then head to stop one to eat. On our food tours, guests will learn about the local Denver food scene, taste chef's choice foods and bartender's choice beverages, and learn about the neighborhood we're touring. We currently explore LoHi for our AirBnB Experience. Guests learn the exact itinerary at the start of the tour, but can expect at least five stops over the course of three hours. And we always end with dessert! Eat, drink, walk repeat! Dietary restrictions and food allergies communicated in advance are usually easily accommodated. Your guide will either be Megan (local food tour owner) or Linnea (local food writer).

The Denver Cocktail Tour
We’ll start our tour at the historic and grand Union Station, where we take in the splendor of “downtown Denver’s living room”. Your guide will give a brief introduction to the beginnings of the Mile High City and it’s early associations with alcohol. We’ll then head out into the heart of lower downtown, also known as LoDo. Your guide will navigate you through the historic, brick-building-lined streets to a few of their favorite local bars. You may start out with a delicious libation at one of Denver’s oldest bars or find yourself in the dark recesses of a subterranean speakeasy spilling over with references to the city’s founding pioneers. As you take in the ambience of each establishment, your guide will let you in on the ingredients and background of each drink. You’ll come to appreciate Denver’s place in the realm of cocktails from all over the world, and we may even get to try a truly local twist on time-honored classics. We’ll dispel the myths and shed some light on controversies surrounding a few of the most popular drinks on the menu. Cocktail connoisseur or not, you’ll end your tour with a greater appreciation of Denver’s craft cocktail scene, all the while exploring LoDo’s iconic Larimer Square and surrounding area. If you would like to book this tour for a private group, please message us directly for more information.
Glassblowing with WizardGlass / Glass Class Denver
To ensure a safe experience, the first thing we will go over is your safety equipment and how to light your torch. Then together, we will go through the steps to create either a pipe, pendant, marble, or shot glass. After the demonstration you will have a chance to make your own creation. I will be right there with you, so you will have all the assistance to make sure your treasure comes out perfect. A two person class will last around 2 hours (each additional person adds another 30 minutes or so). You can pick up your project the next day or it will be shipped to you after it's annealing cycle in the kiln. If any time remains in your session you are welcome to use that to make more treasures. Everything will be provided for you including glass materials, safety equipment, light snacks, and drinks. Be ready to create and have fun in a relaxed environment with a fun and enthusiastic teacher! Follow our insta @glassclassdenver for more pics. Other things to note: Don't wear your best clothes. There is a chance for very small burns as always with fire.
Silversmithing with a Local Artist
Experience the excitement of making your own piece of jewelry! This is a three hour hands-on workshop, in which you will learn the silversmithing fabrication techniques to make a sterling silver band ring. All materials and tools will be provided for the workshop. Just come, have fun and learn! During the workshop you will be lead step-by-step through the processes. It is a very safe environment, however each participate will be asked to sign a liability waiver and safety will be discussed. The process begins by measuring and cutting a piece a sterling silver the desired width of your ring. Next the metal is annealed with a torch. Annealing is the process of heating metal with a flame to make it malleable. After each time the metal is heated, it is cleaned in a solution to remove the oxidation that is created on the surface. Once the metal is prepared, you will have choices of hammers and metal stamps to texture a pattern onto the sterling silver, creating your personal design. Then the metal is cut to the length required for your ring size, formed into shape and soldered together. The final steps are refining, buffing and polishing your creation to have a beautiful shine! Other things to note Rest assured that your safety is our priority. Regarding COVID-19, we have a cleaning protocol in place. Participants will be required to wear a mask during the class and take a temperature when entering the studio. Disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer are available for your use.
Dragon Ranch Experience In Beautiful Mountain Setting
The Dragon Ranch Experience The thing about dragons is the magic, mystery, and awe they bring. Our goal is that Dragon Ranch will do the same. Whether it be the magic of watching and meeting our goats, sheep, llamas, longhorns and horses which range in size from miniatures to draft, or fishing for mountain trout in our ponds (additional cost to fish). Experience the awe of our beautiful aspen filled nature trails throughout our working ranch, or go back through history as you visit a blacksmith shop built in 1860, and a Milk House built in the late 1800’s among other historic ranch structures from the original homesteaders. You will be able to experience a way of life that is disappearing. All of our buildings and trails are named after American Medal of Honor recipients, which serve as a reminder that the freedoms we share are a gift to be cherished. We always strive to have babies throughout the year so we can provide great experiences (and photos) with our baby goats, longhorns, sheep, llamas, and mini horses. We will teach you about each one of the different animals on our ranch, what they are used for, and how they coexist with us here on the ranch to include our livestock dogs who live with our livestock. We will also provide fun lessons in herding some of our sheep or roping. The myth begins. Welcome to Dragon Ranch.
