From towering yarumo trees to the bustling Plaza de Paloquemao, explore Bogotá’s unique culture through playful illustration exercises. This two-hour workshop is not about perfect technique—it’s about creativity, storytelling, and reimagining the city’s most ordinary yet iconic features.
• Begin with a tour of the Casatinta arts center, known as Colombia’s home of illustration and graphics. I’ll give insights into my creative process and lead an interactive discussion where you can share your observations of the city’s animals, plants, and places.
• Building on our collective inspiration list, we’ll do some word associations and creative play, then turn those concepts into comic strips combining humor, imagination, and Bogotá’s cultural essence. No drawing experience necessary!
• Finally, we’ll share and discuss our work, alongside reflections on how art can reshape perspectives and deepen cultural connections.
You’ll leave with your illustrations as unique souvenirs of your time in Bogotá, having found unexpected stories in the city and turned them into something completely your own.
